Director of Library Services
I am excited to welcome you to the Open University of Tanzania Library. Our Library supports the teaching, learning, research, innovation and consultancy services. It houses diverse collection of books, journals, electronic resources, and provides services like information literacy, access to online databases, and quiet study spaces with infrastructure, which allow Library users to connect their Laptop computers, tablets or smartphones to the Internet.
Our experienced and dedicated team of Library Staff are always available to quench the diverse needs of Library Users. I encourage you to optimally utilise our Library resources and the Library experts for academic and research excellence. Directorate of Library Services
The Directorate of Library Services is an Academic Unit. Its mission is to provide high quality information services to support the university's core missions, which are teaching, research and consultancy. The Library has three Units headed by Heads of Units who work closely under the Director of Library Services which are:
Readers & Technical Services
Responsible for library customer care, usage statistics, processing of reading materials and ensuring timely provision of library services in a conducive reading environment
Documentation
Responsible for acquisition of reading resources, selective dissemination of information, stocktaking and general library collection statistics.
Regional & Outreach Services
Responsible for planning equitable distribution of reading materials in all libraries and administration of mini-libraries in regional centres.
Network of Libraries: We have a network of libraries coordinated from the Headquarters' main library to mini-libraries in the Regional Centres. Electronic resources accessible remotely via subscribed academic databases, Open Educational Resources, Open Courseware and the Institutional Repository, complement our physical collection.
